Apsley

Apsley is a small town in Victoria, Australia. It is located on the Wimmera Highway, in the West Wimmera Shire, 420 kilometers north-west of Melbourne, and 10 kilometers east of the South Australian border. The town is named after Apsley House in London. It was surveyed and proclaimed in 1851, and was initially a grazing township.
The population at the 2001 census was 161. The town is close to Lake Bringalbert and Newlands Lake, and the Saint Gregory’s Vineyard, which specialises in port wine.
A large Red-flowering Gum on Wallace Street is listed on the National Trust of Australia’s Significant Tree Register for Victoria.
The major attractions near Apsley are the two lakes – Lake Bringalbert (10 km from town) and Newlands Lake which is on the outskirts of the town. Both lakes have good picnic facilities are are known for in the local area for their fishing.
