Carrathool is a town in New South Wales, and is located around 675 km west of the capital city of Sydney.
The name Carrathool comes from a Wiradjuri word, which means “native companion” or “brolga”.
Carrathool was originally located at Boree Point on the Murrumbidgee River, however that changed when the railway arrived. At this point, the whole town was relocated 5 km north to where it still survives today.
