Licola is a town in Victoria, Australia, located on Licola Road, in the Wellington Shire, 254 kilometres east of Melbourne. The Lion’s club owns a large section of land in Licola, but the majority of the land is National Forest.
The town houses one general store, one petrol station and a small number of houses. It is also the only Victorian town not connected to the mains electricity grid. The town is frequented by motorbike riders, campers and hikers alike.
Licola is commonly used as the starting point for an exploration of the surrounding area by those keen on bushwalking in high plains country at the edge of the Snowy Mountains.
It has a general store, a camping ground and a swimming hole. The general store substitutes for a local tourist information office and provides visitors with good information about tracks through the surrounding parks.
