Amity Point

Postcode: 4183

Amity Point is a small close knit township located on the north western point of North Stradbroke Island, Queensland, Australia in Redland Shire. The last census recorded a population of only 436 people, a small number for a non-farming community.

Directly north is the Coral Sea and the southern tip of Moreton Island. To the east lies the small town of Point Lookout and to the south lies the main town of North Stradbroke Island, Dunwich. Wallum Creek snakes along the souther border of the town.

One of three major centres on North Stradbroke Island (the others are Dunwich and Point Lookout), Amity is mainly a residential area, with a charming fishing village atmosphere. Cabarita Park is the most popular foreshore park. From here it’s a short walk to the jetty or the boat ramp, where many local launch straight from the shore into the deep Rous Channel, which runs very close to the Amity shoreline.

It’s a short trip north across Moreton Bay to Moreton Island’s Day’s Gutter. Fishing trawlers and recreational fishermen appreciate Amity as a safe launching area and anchorage in almost all wind conditions.
