Arakoon was the original settlement of the town of South West Rocks. The settlement was later moved to the present location, where better land conditions for building were available.
The Arakoon State Recreation area is one of the most popular in the state drawing over 1,000,000 visitors annually. This beautiful coastal area with beaches, barbecue and picnic areas is a great place for fishing and bushwalks, with many historical features.
