Lutwyche
Postcode: 4030
Located just over 4 km north of the Brisbane CBD, Lutwyche is an older suburb which is popular with professionals working in the health industry due to its proximity to the Royal Brisbane Hospital and business professionals wanting to live close to the CBD.
Major housing development in the Lutwyche area dates back to the 1880s driven by the opening of the Sandgate railway line. The suburb’s housing stock consists predominantly of cottages and Queenslanders and medium density apartment complexes of various ages, offering buyers a wide selection of housing styles, in a variety of price ranges.
Although Lutwyche has no train station itself, there are stations at nearby Albion and Wooloowin, however the area does benefit from regular bus services along Lutwyche/Bowen Bridge Road providing residents with all-day access to the CBD.
Leisure parks such as Prentice Park, WA Jolly Park and Bradshaw Park provide a variety of bike and walkways, some running alongside Kedron Brook. Downey Park, Ballymore and Perry Park are also close by in Wilston, Herston, and Bowen Hills respectively.
Wooloowin Primary School is supplemented by numerous private and public schools in surrounding suburbs catering to primary and secondary school children.
The Lutwyche Shopping Centre acts as a retail hub for residents living in and around Lutwyche. Slightly further away, Stafford City and Brookside Shopping Centres supplement the stores in Lutwyche.
